Inventory Manager Job Summary:

The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing the complete lifecycle of rental inventory, including tracking, procurement, maintenance, and optimization of inventory levels. This position ensures that inventory is accurately recorded, efficiently stored, and properly maintained to meet operational demands. The Inventory Manager will work closely with warehouse, logistics, sales, and operations teams to ensure seamless coordination, minimize losses, and enhance profitability. This role requires strong organizational skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to implement effective inventory control processes.

Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management & Optimization:

Oversee all inventory control operations, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across all locations. Develop and implement strategies to optimize inventory levels based on demand forecasting and historical trends. Maintain an organized and well-documented inventory system within the ERP software. Regularly assess inventory turnover rates and recommend adjustments to reduce excess or obsolete stock. Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely replenishment of inventory. Conduct periodic reviews of inventory categories to identify areas for consolidation or expansion.

Inventory Accuracy & Quality Control:

Conduct scheduled physical inventory counts, reconciliations, and cycle counting to ensure data accuracy. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical counts and system records. Establish and enforce quality control procedures for all rental equipment, ensuring all items meet company standards before delivery. Coordinate with the warehouse and operations team to separate out damaged, outdated, or non-rentable inventory. Implement tracking systems to monitor missing, broken, or returned items. Work with maintenance and repair teams to ensure damaged items are restored and re-entered into circulation.

Sub-Rentals & Vendor Coordination:

Identify and manage sub-rental needs based on inventory shortfalls, working with vendors to secure temporary rentals. Negotiate pricing and contracts with vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness and availability of necessary items. Monitor the performance and reliability of sub-rental partners, adjusting sourcing strategies as needed. Ensure all sub-rented items meet Curated Events’ quality standards before being deployed to customers.

Warehouse & Logistics Coordination:

Work closely with warehouse management to improve storage efficiency and organization of inventory. Develop standardized processes for the movement, staging, and dispatching of rental inventory. Collaborate with logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate equipment preparation and delivery. Ensure inventory is stored and handled in a manner that minimizes damage and maximizes longevity. Assist in implementing automation tools and technology to enhance inventory tracking and efficiency.

Loss Prevention & Cost Control:

Develop and enforce loss prevention measures to minimize theft, damage, and misplacement of inventory. Track loss rates and analyze trends to implement proactive solutions. Implement barcode or RFID tracking systems to monitor equipment movement and reduce shrinkage. Work with finance teams to analyze inventory costs, identifying opportunities to improve margins. Establish reporting metrics for monitoring inventory health and financial impact.

Team Leadership & Training:

Supervise, train, and mentor inventory team members, ensuring accountability and efficiency. Develop training materials and conduct workshops to educate staff on inventory handling best practices. Assign and oversee responsibilities related to inventory tracking, counting, and quality assurance. Foster a collaborative environment between inventory, warehouse, logistics, and sales teams.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, or logistics. Strong proficiency in inventory management systems, ERP software, and data analysis tools. Knowledge of inventory forecasting, procurement processes, and demand planning. Experience in event rentals, warehousing, or logistics is a plus. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership and communication abilities, with experience managing teams. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Job Performance Standards:

Maintain inventory accuracy within 99% compliance through regular audits and reconciliations. Optimize warehouse storage and inventory handling to reduce loss and damage by 10% annually. Develop and implement new inventory tracking systems to improve efficiency by 20%. Successfully manage inventory costs and improve profit margins through procurement and optimization strategies. Train and develop a highly skilled inventory team that meets performance benchmarks.

Work Environment:

Warehouse, office, and logistics settings with frequent interaction with warehouse and transportation teams. Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment requiring multitasking and adaptability. Regular standing, lifting, and moving of inventory as needed. Occasional travel may be required to coordinate with vendors or support event execution.
