Job Description

Head of Logistics 4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars Kenilworth, NJ 07033 Manage the logistics and warehouse operations for all Emmi Desserts sites in USA. Provide leadership and oversight for the total company logistics and warehousing to include intra-company shipments, imports, 3rd party warehouse management as well as developing logistics strategies to meet our future needs. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS LEADERSHIP

(Top Priority)

  • Own and lead the performance of internal warehouses , ensuring daily execution meets service levels, quality standards, and productivity expectations.
  • Manage and schedule warehouse teams to ensure adequate staffing, shift coverage, and labor flexibility to meet fluctuating demand.
  • Drive best-in-class inventory accuracy, cycle counts, slotting, space optimization , and material flow within warehouse environments.
  • Ensure full safety compliance and enforce SOPs across all warehouse functions.
  • Oversee receiving, staging, storage (including freezer) , and outbound order fulfillment with clear accountability metrics.
  • Partner with planning and procurement to ensure capacity forecasts align with space and labor planning in each facility. Logistics and Transportation Management
  • Manage inbound and outbound freight for raw materials and finished goods across four production plants.
  • Oversee third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and continuously assess cost, service, and alignment with business strategy.
  • Lead internal fleet operations, including supervision, performance, and regulatory compliance for drivers and DOT-regulated activities.
  • Coordinate international shipments and import container movements, including drayage and storage. Process Improvement & Strategy Development
  • Design and implement a distribution strategy that integrates the company’s four operating companies and international import flows.
  • Develop and deliver KPIs related to warehouse throughput, on-time delivery, order accuracy, and labor efficiency.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cost, improve service, and enhance warehouse and logistics operations. Systems & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Support interim tools for planning and inventory management while preparing for ERP implementation.
  • Play a lead role in ERP system selection and implementation , ensuring warehouse and logistics needs are fully represented.
  • Partner with production, sales, and customer service to resolve service issues, optimize replenishment, and drive cross-functional success. Financial Management & Compliance
  • Develop and manage department budgets; deliver on cost savings, productivity, and operational KPIs.
  • Maintain full DOT compliance, including driver files, hours of service, vehicle inspections, and incident investigations.
Qualifications / Minimum

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of related supply chain/operations experience in leadership roles of increasing responsibility
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly skilled in building relationships, influencing others, leading change and developing talent.
  • Good MS Office skills
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodology; experience identifying improvement opportunities and leading teams to complete projects.
  • Proven record of delivering results.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions and obtain necessary “buy in” from stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Able to travel between locations in NJ and Long Island routinely
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems required and previous implementation experience preferred
  • Bi-Lingual English/Spanish preferred Physical Demands
  • The Logistics Manager may have to spend up to 8 hours standing, bending, twisting, turning, using arms and hands for reaching, handling, and manipulating objects, lift items weighing up to 25 pounds, need to climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other climbing devices, be able to see naturally or with correction, to safely perform designated tasks.
  • The Logistics Manager may have to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.

The Technical Manager may also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.

Job Type:
Full-time Pay:

$150,000.00 – $160,000.00 per year
