Parts Manager Ithaca Agway Ace Hardware 213 South Fulton Street, Ithaca, NY 14850 Ithaca Agway Ace Hardware is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Parts Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will manage our parts department, specializing in top-tier brands such as Stihl, Toro, EGO, and more, ensuring customers receive the right parts and support for their lawn and garden equipment, power tools, and small engine repairs. This role is vital to keeping our inventory well-stocked, organized, and accessible while providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management :
Oversee the inventory of parts and accessories for brands like Stihl, Toro, EGO, and other key product lines. Perform regular stock checks, update inventory records, and place timely orders with suppliers to ensure stock availability. Organize and maintain parts storage for easy access by both customers and staff. Manage special orders and backorders, ensuring customers are informed of expected arrival dates.
Customer Service & Sales :
Assist customers in identifying and selecting the correct parts for their equipment needs. Provide expert advice on product specifications, installation, and maintenance for a variety of parts and tools. Handle customer inquiries, troubleshooting, and product recommendations with professionalism and courtesy. Upsell related products, parts, and services when appropriate, enhancing the overall customer experience. Collaboration with
Service Department :
Work closely with the Service Department to ensure timely access to parts needed for equipment repairs and maintenance. Coordinate with technicians to provide the necessary parts for service jobs, ensuring minimal downtime.
Parts Ordering & Supplier Relations :
Manage relationships with suppliers for Stihl, Toro, Ego, and other brands, ensuring efficient ordering and fulfillment of parts. Stay up-to-date on new products, models, and parts from our key suppliers to ensure our inventory is aligned with customer needs. Monitor inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts.
Administrative Tasks :
Maintain accurate records of parts transactions, inventory movements, and customer orders. Assist with the department’s budget, ensuring cost control while maintaining an optimal parts selection. Prepare regular reports for management regarding parts sales, inventory levels, and customer service metrics.
Store Maintenance & Organization :
Keep the parts area clean, organized, and safe, adhering to all safety regulations. Ensure the parts department is visually appealing and well-stocked, making it easy for customers to locate what they need.
Staff Training & Support :
Train and mentor other staff members on identifying parts, operating parts lookup systems, and providing excellent customer service.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s degree or relevant certification preferred). Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in parts management, retail, or a related field. Knowledge of small engine repair, lawn equipment, and power tools, with a strong understanding of Stihl, Toro, Ego, and similar brands. Proficient in computer systems and inventory management software (experience with specialized parts systems is a plus). Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working with power equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and identify parts needed for complex small engine equipment. A passion for outdoor power equipment and helping customers maintain their tools and machinery.
