Director of Materials Overview:
We’re hiring a Director of Materials to lead all materials management functions for our manufacturing plant. This includes strategic planning, procurement, inventory, and supply chain execution. You’ll play a key role in aligning teams, improving processes, and ensuring materials flow efficiently to meet customer and business goals. After years of experience in operational leadership, this is your opportunity to make a long-term impact in a leadership role that balances strategy with hands-on execution.
Responsibilities:
Lead plant-wide material planning and scheduling to ensure smooth production, optimal inventory, and on-time customer deliveries. Coordinate closely with procurement, commercial, and operations teams to align forecasts and drive effective inventory strategies. Maintain accurate MRP system data, including planning parameters, BOMs, routing, item costs, and forecasts. Anticipate production or supply issues, proactively resolving delays to meet delivery and service commitments. Set and manage inventory goals, focusing on cost control, availability, and working capital optimization. Build strong supplier partnerships and work with sourcing teams to support custom order strategies and global procurement plans. Ensure purchasing processes are efficient, budgets are met, and purchase orders and invoices are properly managed. Use data from sales trends, historical usage, and customer demand to improve inventory planning and reduce waste. Champion continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, or TPS tools to streamline supply chain operations. Oversee compliance and accuracy of physical inventory counts and cycle count programs. Partner with global and central planning teams to drive improvements in service levels, inventory turns, and operational agility.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred). 10+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing materials management, planning, and supply chain operations. Skilled in ERP systems (M3 required); experience with Logility or similar advanced planning tools is a plus. Strong background in continuous improvement and process optimization (Lean, Six Sigma, TPS). Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills. Excellent communicator with a proven ability to build alignment across departments and lead cross-functional teams. Demonstrated success leading teams and solving complex supply chain challenges. Focused on customer satisfaction with the ability to align operations to meet service goals.

Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$170,000.00 – $195,000.00 per year
