Our client is currently seeking a Assistant Materials Manager
Role Overview
The Assistant Materials Manager is responsible for the management of material, transportation, and inventory needs of the plant. Accountable for meeting monthly goals and analyzing the performance of each measurable, while administering the department in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
The Role:
Establish the database parameters for Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and related production software systems.
Establish and maintain business practices, procedures, and documentation that ensure control of supplier releases, iing material shipments, receiving documents, inventory levels, material storage and movement, and shipments to the customer.
Manage the schedule variation of customer schedule changes and recovery of premium freight costs as required.
Manage and monitor the activities of subordinates’ accuracy and integrity of all materials related to record-keeping.
Monitor and measure supplier performance to ensurepliance with established quality and delivery standards.
Manage the data and maintenance of the Bill of Material (BOM) Database, including monitoring performance and effective date implementation changes.
Minimize inventory levels on balance-out parts and, when appropriate, submit an obsolescence claim.
Maintain excellent customer relations, including supplier delivery performance.
Review the job performance of each subordinate so that employee training and development may be utilized perpany policy.
Document and manage supplier delivery performance, including on-time delivery, shipment accuracy, and packaging issues.
Manage the Planning Report daily.
Ensure conformance to all IATF requirements applicable to the position.
Material Handling & Safety Responsibilities:
Safe operation of all material handling equipment and maintenance.
Ensure timely licensing requirements and testing for all team members who operate material handling equipment.
Ensure all storage and racking safety standards are maintained.
Proper maintenance and evaluation of all material handling and dock equipment.
Documentation of all material handling safety and property occurrences and corrective actions.
Supervision and performance of Material Floor Supervisors and material handlers.
Establish and maintain standard receiving procedures, shipping procedures, and container tracking documentation.
Optimization & Cost Reduction Goals:
Establish goals and action plans for:
Continued reduction in packaging, material handling, and department purchase expenses.
Updating and identifying improvements for Indirect Labor Tools to manage material handling efficiency.
Measuring production downtime caused by material handling and replenishment processes.
Cost reduction in transportation, package handling, piece pricing, and inventory levels.
Truckload Utilization Management, reporting daily potential cost-saving freight mode changes.
Maintainpliance with allpany customs processes and procedures.
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE)
Responsibilities:
Actively participate in Health/Safety/Environmental investigations and the 8D process for problem resolution.
Ensure required Safety Audits arepleted for yourself and your team.
Report accidents, occupational illnesses, and HSE&E emergencies, informing supervisors of any conditions that may impact employees, assets, or the public.
Assist the plant in achieving safety goals and AMS objectives.
Promote Environmental Management System (EMS)pliance and resource conservation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent relevant years of experience.
3-5 years of experience in Materials Management.
SAP Experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to manage multiple priorities.
