Summary:
The Materials Manager is responsible for leading strategic inventory optimization and materials flow at our Fort Mill, South Carolina facility. Reporting to the Global Supply Chain Director, this role ensures cost-effective, agile operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role will drive alignment across
SIOP/IBP
processes, manage global supplier relationships and foster seamless collaboration between sales, production and logistics teams – all while advancing sustainability initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Strategic Inventory Management Develop and implement inventory strategies to achieve 98%+ service levels while minimizing costs. Manage high-SKU environments using techniques like ABC analysis, AI forecasting, and demand modeling. Ensure effective material flow through JIT, Kanban, VMI, and FIFO practices. Oversee all aspects of material management across sites, factoring in lead times, obsolescence, and ERP-based analytics. Demand Planning & Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with Sales to convert forecasts into inventory plans aligned with fulfillment priorities based on margin and account value. Lead SIOP execution, using data-driven insights to align production, procurement, and warehousing. Communicate supply constraints proactively to Sales and leadership. Develop and track KPIs such as inventory turns, forecast accuracy, and lead time improvements to drive performance. Global Supplier & Materials Risk Management Support supplier contract negotiations focusing on lead time reduction, MOQ flexibility, and sustainability standards. Build a resilient supplier network by qualifying alternates, auditing performance, and preparing for disruptions. Collaborate with Compliance Teams to optimize customs processes and reduce duty and tariff impacts. Implement PFEP and Lean methodologies to minimize non-value-added handling and optimize material flow. Lead warehouse automation efforts, including RFID and automated storage, to boost accuracy and efficiency. Analyze SKU usage to enhance storage layouts and support JIT delivery. Compliance & Continuous Improvement Manage annual audits and weekly cycle counts to sustain over 98% inventory accuracy. Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for inventory discrepancies. Drive sustainability initiatives by reducing material waste, encouraging recyclable packaging, and monitoring carbon footprint metrics. Skills Highly skilled in ERP systems (SAP MM/EWM, Oracle SCM), demand planning tools (Kinaxis, Blue Yonder), and data visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau). Expert in statistical forecasting, safety stock modeling, and scenario planning. Knowledgeable in industry standards such as IATF 16949 and IPC-610, with Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt+) expertise. Specialized in electronics and automotive supply chains, including BOM management, component traceability, and counterfeit prevention.
