Volt is immediately hiring for a Materials Manager in Fort Mill, SC. As a Materials Manager, you will:

Strategic Inventory Management:

Design, implement, and execute comprehensive inventory strategies aimed at achieving and maintaining a 98%+ service level while aggressively minimizing inventory carrying costs.
Strategically factor in complex global supplier lead times (2 weeks production + 4-5 weeks transit/customs) and dynamically adjust safety stock levels based on demand variability.
Leverage deep industry expertise in managing high-SKU environments, addressing component lifecycle challenges, and implementing Just-in-Time (JIT) delivery frameworks for domestic vendors.
Implement advanced inventory analysis techniques, including ABC analysis, demand variability modeling, and AI-driven forecasting tools, to optimize stock levels.
Champion strict adherence to First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principles and aggressively drive obsolescence reduction, particularly for time-sensitive electronic components.
best-in-class inventory management practices, including Kanban systems, Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI), and End-of-Life (EOL) planning.
Utilize ERP systems (e.g., SAP MM/EWM, Oracle SCM) for real-time, accurate inventory tracking and comprehensive analytics.
Assume end-to-end responsibility for the material management of all materials across all company sites and locations.

Demand Planning & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner strategically with the Sales team to translate sales forecasts (including promotional campaigns and new product launches) into actionable and optimized inventory plans, prioritizing fulfillment tiers (100%/90%/80%) based on margin and strategic account importance.
Lead the day-to-day execution of the SIOP process, including facilitating meetings and providing critical data-driven insights to ensure tight alignment between production schedules, procurement activities, and warehouse capacity.
Proactively and effectively communicate any potential supply constraints (e.g., customs delays, critical material shortages) to Sales and Executive Leadership to enable proactive mitigation strategies.
Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to rigorously measure inventory performance, such as inventory turns, forecast accuracy, and lead time improvement.

Global Supplier & Materials Risk Management:

Actively contribute to the negotiation of global supplier contracts, with a strong emphasis on achieving significant lead time reductions, securing maximum MOQ flexibility, and integrating robust sustainability criteria (e.g., carbon-neutral shipping, ethical sourcing).
Develop and maintain a resilient global supplier network by rigorously qualifying alternate vendors, conducting thorough audits of supplier performance, and implementing comprehensive contingency plans to mitigate potential geopolitical and logistical disruptions.
Collaborate closely with Compliance Teams to streamline complex customs processes and effectively mitigate duty and tariff impacts on material costs.

End-to-End Materials Flow Optimization:

Deploy the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) methodology and Lean manufacturing principles to aggressively reduce non-value-added material handling throughout the supply chain.
Drive strategic warehouse automation initiatives (e.g., RFID tracking, automated storage and retrieval systems) to significantly improve inventory accuracy and overall throughput efficiency.
Conduct in-depth analysis of SKU utilization to optimize warehouse storage layouts and strategically implement Just-in-Time (JIT) delivery where feasible, thereby reducing unnecessary handling and movement waste.
Identify and implement the lowest-cost and most efficient material storage solutions.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement:

Oversee the execution of annual inventory audits and weekly cycle counts, consistently maintaining an inventory accuracy rate exceeding 98%.
Lead thorough root-cause analysis investigations for inventory discrepancies and implement effective corrective workflows in a timely and professional manner.
Spearhead critical sustainability projects aimed at reducing material waste, promoting the use of recyclable packaging materials, and accurately tracking key carbon footprint metrics across the materials management function.
Leadership in

IBP/SIOP
Integration:

Actively contribute to the development of comprehensive 18-60-month integrated business plans, ensuring tight alignment of inventory strategies with overarching financial goals and strategic market expansion initiatives.
