Full Job Description Overview:

Materials Management Technician Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift With more than 30 specialties from Cardiology and Neurosurgery to Orthopedics and Vascular care, Methodist Medical Center was one of the first hospitals in East Tennessee to offer cutting-edge treatments and technologies that benefit people with life-threatening aneurysms, severely damaged knee, hip and shoulder joints, sudden heart failure, and non-healing wounds. 283 licensed beds 25 ICU beds 12 intermediate care beds 38 emergency suites 2 cath labs 8 LDRP suites Over 250 active and courtesy physicians Over 800 employees

Job Objectives:

Requisition, receive, store, stock and distribute supplies and maintain inventories according to established schedules and procedures using data entry for stocking lists and inventory control.

Responsibilities:

Unpacks items received, verifying accuracy of shipment. Maintains perpetual inventory records of materiel received and issued via data entry. Maintains data materiel by established clerical procedures; Conducts periodic inventory of on-hand stock verifying system and shelf count accuracy; Conducts an annual (or more frequent) complete inventory count to verify system accuracy. Delivers stock and maintains supply levels in departmental areas having nurse servers and mini-supply rooms; delivers supplies, forms and equipment among offices and departments in MMC and off campus sites which includes driving off campus for mail and clinical deliveries and pick up. Cleans, prepares and stores medical equipment and supplies using established infection control techniques where applicable. Provides support for delivery of large volume capital deliveries and their short term storage as required. Maintains distribution and inventory of medical gas cylinders. Prepares proper return paperwork for any returned goods including repairs; Prepares property card paperwork and maintains proper perpetual filing of same. Local travel required.

Cannot pose a direct threat to health or safety of self or others. Must provide safe, efficient, competent care to customer or patient population assigned. Must demonstrate competency of the unit specific functions described in the performance continuum and skill lists.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

A high school diploma or its equivalent is required. Courses should include typing, mathematics, ten key calculator. Must be able to read with comprehension, write legibly, and perform basic arithmetic calculations. Must understand instructions and be proficient in the use of a ten key calculator or computer calculator keypad. Familiarity with computer hardware and software is preferred. Must be capable of successfully completing on-the-job training in hospital methods and office procedures. Must be able to lift over 50lbs and obtain a valid driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE

Storeroom, inventory control, detail posting experience, and understanding of hospital supplies are preferred. Storeroom or warehouse experience preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS

Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
