The Director, Supply Chain will be pivotal in scalingour operations, driving supply chain excellence, and ensuring theseamless delivery of our client products. This role requires astrategic leader with deep expertise in pharmaceuticalmanufacturing, logistics, warehouse management, vendornegotiations, and procurement, coupled with the agility to addresstactical challenges as they arise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement comprehensive short-term and long-termsupply chain and procurement strategies as our productionoperations are scaled, incorporating actionable plans, keyperformance indicators (KPIs), and continuous improvementinitiatives to align with company objectives. Develop a plan to address short term and long term storageneeds for products across a range of storage conditions. Planshould assess third party options as well as onsite options. Implement a warehouse management system in collaboration withstakeholders in finance, procurement, production planning andmanufacturing. Oversee and optimize purchasing, sourcing, operationalforecasting, manufacturing demand planning, and supply chaincoordination to meet quality and delivery standards, enhancethroughput, reduce costs, and optimize inventory investment. Lead all facets of distribution and logistics, global tradecompliance, production planning, procurement, warehousing, andinventory control to ensure efficient and compliantoperations. Design and implement best-in-class supply chain strategies thatsupport complex commercial distribution across multiple markets,ensuring scalability and compliance. Drive sustainable improvements in product availability,inventory performance, and cost productivity through theapplication of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Assess and reorganize the existing supply chain structure toenhance customer service, inventory turnover, and reduce freightand distribution costs. Participate in the improvement of the new product launchprocess to ensure timely availability of materials, optimizingproduction planning and minimizing delays. Evaluate and implement finished goods warehousing solutions,including the assessment of 3PL providers, to enhance distributionefficiency. Implement advanced forecasting methodologies to improveforecast accuracy, leveraging statistical tools and marketinsights. Determine the ideal organizational structure for the supplychain function to achieve objectives, including the coordinationand aggregation of purchases across the organization. Negotiate with current and potential vendors for the purchaseof raw materials, equipment, parts, and services to achieve optimalvalue, quality, and terms, ensuring on-time delivery to meetproduction needs. Continuously assess market conditions and source new vendors tomanage the company’s cost position, seeking discount structures andvolume rebates when possible. Optimize capacity plans and master scheduling processes tocreate efficient material flow, driving achievement of quarterlyrevenue targets. Drive focused efforts to improve inventory turns across rawmaterials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory,performing analysis and setting inventory targets. Collaborate in the implementation of ERP and MRP systems,ensuring accurate data inputs and system alignment with supplychain objectives. Develop, mentor, and hire as needed for the supply chain teamto build a robust succession pipeline and strengthen organizationalcapacity.
QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years of experience in various sterile injectablepharmaceutical supply chain and purchasing roles and 5+ years in aleadership position withing a supply chain or purchasingfunction. 5+ years experience in sterile injectable warehousemanagement Has previously worked with high-growth businesses andunderstands the unique challenges of fast-paced growth. Experience in supply chain support of sterile injectablepharmaceutical manufacturing. Knowledge of MRP systems, with the understanding of how systemdata affects desired outcomes, as well as experience with ERPSystem implementation is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, BusinessAdministration, or a related field; MBA preferred. Strong leadership and team development skills, with the abilityto inspire and guide cross-functional teams. Excellent negotiation and vendor management capabilities, witha track record of achieving favorable terms and conditions. Proficiency in statistical forecasting methodologies and demandplanning tools. Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and compliancestandards within the pharmaceutical industry. Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to addresscomplex supply chain challenges effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable ofbuilding strong relationships with internal and externalstakeholders.
