Brevard County is seeking a seasoned leader to manage and oversee our Road & Bridge Program. This high-impact role offers the chance to lead multiple divisions—Maintenance, Construction, Landscape, and Heavy Equipment Fleet—while helping improve infrastructure countywide. If you’re experienced in public works and ready to guide complex projects and teams, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise all operational activities across four program divisions. Oversee budgets, staffing, equipment planning, and vendor management. Track project milestones, set goals, and initiate corrective actions when needed. Collaborate with engineering staff, consultants, and public agencies on capital improvement projects. Respond to citizen concerns and represent the county in public forums and meetings. Lead emergency and disaster response coordination for Road & Bridge functions. Develop and monitor KPIs to ensure continuous improvement.

What You’ll Need Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience:

At least 9 years in transportation infrastructure (roads, drainage, bridges), with 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.

Preferred:

Master’s degree in Public Administration or Organizational Leadership; experience in local government.

Licenses/Certifications:

Valid Florida driver’s license (or ability to obtain) FDOT Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (within 9 months)

FEMA NIMS

certifications:

ICS-100, ICS-200, G300, G-499, ICS-700, ICS-800

(within 12 months) What Sets You Apart Expertise in infrastructure planning, budgeting, construction, and team leadership. Strong communication and public engagement skills. Knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and safety regulations. Proven ability to manage projects, solve problems, and lead under pressure. Work Environment This role is primarily office-based, with regular site visits. You may be exposed to dust, uneven terrain, moving traffic, and extreme weather conditions.
