Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Supervisor to oversee our fleet operations at our West Palm Beach facility. Our company specializes in the distribution of metals and related products, with the majority of loads transported locally and regionally via flatbed tractor trailers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for daily dispatch, driver management, DOT compliance, load planning, and ensuring timely and efficient deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise a team of CDL drivers and oversee the scheduling of daily local and regional deliveries. Dispatch loads and monitor routes to ensure on-time performance and safety compliance. Plan and assign loads based on priority, equipment availability, and customer requirements. Ensure all drivers adhere to DOT regulations and company safety standards. Collaborate with warehouse and sales teams to coordinate load readiness and customer expectations. Track and report on fleet performance, maintenance needs, and productivity. Support the hiring, training, and development of driving staff. Maintain accurate transportation records, logs, and reports. Resolve issues related to delivery delays, driver concerns, or equipment breakdowns.
Requirements:
3+ years of transportation or logistics supervisory experience (flatbed preferred). Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, HOS rules, and local/regional freight logistics. Experience dispatching CDL-A drivers and managing flatbed equipment. Proficient in transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Preferred:
CDL-A license (not required, but a plus). Experience in the metals industry or handling heavy/oversized loads.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, with flexibility for early mornings or occasional weekend needs.
