What we need:

Mohawk is looking for a strategic leader for our Manager Transportation position in Davenport, FL. The Manager Transportation is a first-level manager that leads an assigned transportation team by using established business and transportation knowledge and understanding as well as providing direction to the team according to established policies to develop team members and provide solutions to reach company goals and objectives. What you’ll do: Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the transportation management process and implementing sound business practices and principles which match the company’s vision. Manage strategic and long-term relationships with carriers, transportation planners, and DC personnel. Oversee day-to-day over work schedules and plans. Plan, direct, and implement vehicle scheduling, allocation, dispatching, maintenance, and communication functions in accordance with established policies and objectives to ensure the economical utilization of vehicles. Direct daily operation of the communication system, review procedures, provide guidance to resolve technical problems, analyze costs, and recommend cost control measures. Interface with supporting operations to ensure best practices are being shared and used as it relates to transportation. Analyze fleet data and recommend changes to policy, process, and procedures to maximize efficiencies and performance as it relates to transportation. Implement safety programs and trainings to assigned areas. Ensure DOT compliance. Responsible for hiring, performance reviews, and corrective action for direct reports. Manage assigned transportation budget and variance reporting. May be responsible for lease negotiations, fleet maintenance, accident investigation, customer service, and other matters relating to transportation. Perform other duties as needed.

What you have:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience. 6-8 years’ relevant experience or equivalent education and/or experience. 1-3 years of management experience. What you’re good at: Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field. Focused on and responsible for their team’s productivity and collective impact. Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills. Able to multitask, prioritize, delegate, and manage time effectively. High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data. Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products. Flexible attitude, adaptable to change, team player, and able to handle multiple projects at once. High degree of professionalism, judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures. What else? This employee will be responsible for direct reports.
