Job Overview:

The Transportation Operation Manager oversees drayage and truckload fleet operations within NRT. This role encompasses the responsibility for the training, development, and hiring of operations staff, ensuring the seamless daily execution of transportation operations. The focus is on maintaining safety, service, and quality standards across all fleet operations.

Duties and responsibilities:

Analyze freight data trends to identify operational issues and implement changes to enhance logistic processes, optimize services, and control labor costs effectively. Maintain client relationships through regular review meetings, resolving any outstanding issues to ensure client satisfaction. Monitor container activity to prevent demurrage and per diem costs, maintaining cost efficiency. Ensure DOT compliance by monitoring ELD information and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulations. Monitor and report on daily order volumes, ensuring operational efficiency and responsiveness to demand. Utilize operations data to develop strategies aimed at improving productivity and client satisfaction. Manage operating budgets, monitor performance against KPIs, and ensure financial and operational targets are met. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in logistics, transportation, operations management, operations research, or business administration, or equivalent experience in the transportation/logistics industry.

Experience:

3 to 5 years of management experience in the Transportation Industry, with a preference for candidates who have knowledge of transportation optimization, efficient routing, pool distribution and container management. Proficient in the use of Transportation Management Systems and Container Management Systems as well as being familiar with implementation methodologies and systems integration. Strong interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with individuals at all organizational levels and managing customer relationships and special projects. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, with a hands-on approach to addressing challenges. Ability to leverage technology to improve customer processes, operations, and transportation networks. Effective analytical and time management skills, essential for driving operational efficiency and meeting targets. Dynamic and adaptable, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. Excel Physical Demands:
Operational Coordination:

Directing the movement of trucks and freight within the terminal or warehouse yard, requiring good hand-eye coordination and quick decision-making.

Computer Use:

Frequent use of computers and handheld devices for inventory management, scheduling, and communication, necessitating manual dexterity.

Environmental Exposure:

Work may involve exposure to warehouse environments, outdoor conditions, and all types of weather while managing operations in the yard.
