The job of
SUPERVISOR, TRANSPORTATION
is done for the purpose/s of ensuring the overall coverage required to meet the transportation operation scheduling demands; and evaluating, resolving and/or recommending solutions to incidents, complaints and/or accidents.
REQUIREMENTS
1.
Educational Level:
High School diploma/GED; Bachelor Degree or higher in job related field preferred 2.
Certification/License Required:
Valid Driver’s License; Must have CDL with S/P endorsement or able to obtain after 90 days of hire 3.
Experience:
Job related experience is required. 4.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Daily attendance and punctuality are required to ensure the goals of the work unit can be met. 2. Communicates information and instructions to drivers (e.g. schedules, route changes, road conditions, accidents, emergencies, etc.) for the purpose of advising drivers on a variety of situations that may impact scheduled transportation services. 3. Compiles a variety of data (e.g. incident reports, inspections, student count, passenger misconduct, mileage, etc.) for the purpose of developing formal reports; conveying information; and complying with mandated requirements. 4. Coordinates scheduling of district vehicles (e.g. regular routes, field trips, athletic events, meetings, etc.) for the purpose of meeting overall transportation requirements. 5. Develops schedules (e.g. routes, workload, special trips, driver training, etc.) for the purpose of determining driver and equipment requirements. 6. Informs a variety of stakeholders of practices and incidents (e.g. parents, teachers, administrators, PTA meeting participants, etc.) for the purpose of providing information for follow-up action and/or proper procedures. 7. Manages bus drivers and monitors (e.g. onboarding, goal setting, disciplinary actions, evaluations, etc.) for the purpose of ensure staff preparation to perform duties of transporting students safely. 8. Monitors time and attendance of transportation staff and resolves scheduling problems (e.g. driver absenteeism, out-of-service vehicles, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring all routes are covered and children safely arrive at their destinations. 9. Participates in a variety of activities (e.g. meetings, training sessions, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information required to perform job functions. 10. Researches a variety of transportation related information (e.g. new or upcoming traffic codes or regulations, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the department and district meet local, state, and federal regulations. 11. Responds to vehicle emergencies (e.g. traffic accidents, mechanical failures, etc.) for the purpose of making recommendations and/or referral for resolution. 12. Serves as a resource for inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. students, parents, community services, other school personnel, etc.) for the purpose of providing information relating to bus routes, schedules and/or resolving operational problems. 13. Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
