HOURS:

35 Hours/Week – Mon-Fri 8AM-4PM

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Senior Center Director, schedule and organize transportation for Holden’s elderly and disabled population on a first serve basis, via the scheduling and operation of two vans.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

:

  • Interacts with clients and the general public in person or via telephone to schedule transportation and to answer questions.
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone for seniors to understand.
  • Assures that the Transportation Coordinator as well as the drivers are DOT compliant with drug and alcohol testing both pre-employment and randomly during employment by making the appointments, completing necessary forms, and maintaining the records.
  • Creates daily transportation schedules for the two vans.
  • Serves as a backup van driver as needed.
  • Creates and submits monthly statistical reports to the WRTA and the town. Submits weekly mileage report to the WRTA.
  • Oversees money (van fees and grant money) received from both vans, reconciles daily receipts, and oversees money expended.
  • Deposits the money at the Town Treasurer’s office on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for all statistical tracking, inputting in the computer (MySeniorCenter), and reporting of statistics.
  • Tracks preventive maintenance and schedules van repairs as needed.
  • Schedules rides for ADA clients either on our vans, or if outside our parameters, through PBSI.
  • Maintains list of regular passengers and ADA passengers, including name, address, phone number, and any other pertinent information.
  • Attends WRTA meeting as needed.
  • Obtains knowledge of rules and regulations regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Ability to handle emergencies in a cool, controlled manner.
  • Assists meals on wheels drivers with planning their drives by providing the best routes to get to the clients.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

:

  • Participates in the hiring process, trains, and supervises the part time drivers.
  • Creates and maintains driver schedules.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED
  • Thorough knowledge of streets and facilities throughout the town of Holden, city of Worcester, and surrounding towns.
  • Ability to take direction while working independently.
  • Must be able to assist elderly in a friendly, tactful, and effective manner.
  • Ability to effectively multitask.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational ability.
  • Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • CORI certification
  • Must pass initial and random drug tests
  • Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled, as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the essential job functions (as listed) either unaided or with assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on a case by case basis.
