In keeping a tradition of excellence, the purpose of the Transportation Supervisor is to enable each student, through safe and efficient transportation, to take full advantage of the complete range of curricular and extracurricular activities offered by the District’s schools. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Duties and responsibilities:
Develop and administer a transportation program to meet all the requirements of the instructional program and extracurricular activities Prepare and update all bus routes to ensure the most efficient, economical, convenient, and safe pupil transportation routing system to meet district’s needs and accommodate efficiency of operation
Recruit, supervise and plan training for all transportation personnel; Certifies that all bus drivers meet certification requirements
Resolve issues, concerns, and complaints pertaining to student transportation and act as a liaison with parents for complaints and special requests
Cooperate with school principals in solving discipline problems occurring on school buses
Cooperate with school principals and others responsible for planning special school trips
Conform to all state laws and regulations regarding school transportation
Maintain all district-owned transportation equipment and develops plans for preventive maintenance to ensure all vehicles are safe and in the best possible condition
Maintain files and submit required reports Transportation Director
Ensure a workable accident prevention program, emphasizing the safety of students, vehicle operators, and mechanics; investigate and report all accidents, and maintain accident records
Ensure that school bus discipline is carried out to enable safe school bus operation
Conduct/require attendance of all drivers for in-service training for all transportation personnel as required by state law
Maintain an inventory and accountability of parts, tools, supplies, and equipment
Maintain, current tags, permits, decals, and inspection stickers
Schedule and supervise the work of all shop personnel
Assist mechanics in job tasks as time permits
Advise superintendent on road hazards for decisions on school closings during inclement weather
Maintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset item assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable use
Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures
Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all school records and personnel related information
Regular, dependable/timely, and in person attendance is an essential function of this position. The employee shall be consistently responsible/maintain regular punctual attendance and timely completion of assigned duties, working assigned days, and using sick and personal leave appropriately
Perform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director or established by district policy
Demonstrate clear and concise written and oral communication skills with administration, staff, parents, and the community at large
Carry out all duties efficiently, promptly, and dependably

Qualifications:
Education Level:

Bachelor’s degree in

Education Certification:

Hold an appropriate Mississippi Teaching Credential or valid emergency
certification issued by the state of Mississippi Educational Board.

Other Requirements:

Valid Commercial Drivers Licenses with “P” and “S” endorsements, Current DOT/Non-DOT physical or be able to obtain, Current MDE Driver Certification

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
