FUNCTION
The Transportation Coordinator helps coordinate the total transportation program for the Willingboro School District, assisting in compiling all necessary reports and ensuring compliance with policies, laws, and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITY
The Transportation Coordinator assists the Transportation Director in ensuring that all tasks and requirements related to transportation are met effectively and efficiently. The Coordinator reports to the Transportation Director and supports the overall transportation program.
QUALIFICATIONS
New Jersey School Transportation Supervisor Certificate Minimum of 3 years of experience in school bus transportation management, including supervisory responsibilities. High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred. Valid driver’s license Knowledge of transportation laws, regulations, and safety standards. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, contractors, and the community. Prior experience in transportation routing
PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES
1. Assist in ensuring that the contractor complies with specifications, board policies, and all state and federal transportation regulations. Report concerns regarding contractor performance to the Transportation Director. 2. Review contractor billing for accuracy, with oversight from the Transportation Director. 3. Assist in reviewing transportation requests and forwarding them to the contractor. 4. Verify all requests for aid in lieu of transportation and prepare appropriate purchase orders, in collaboration with the Transportation Director. 5. Support the establishment and adjustment of routes as needs change. 6. Help establish procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal transportation laws and board policies. 7. Work with the Pupil Personnel Services Department in the operation of the Special Education transportation program, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and policies. 8. Make recommendations to the Transportation Director for the improvement of transportation services. 9. Assist in preparing transportation reports for the Board of Education and the State Department of Education in a thorough and timely manner. 10. Help maintain accurate records of the transportation program. 11. Foster good public relations with the community regarding transportation matters. 12. Respond to parent requests and concerns about transportation, serving as a liaison between parents and the private contractor. 13. Address concerns raised by the contractor regarding student discipline on vehicles and contact the appropriate school administrator as needed. 14. Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor or administration.
