Job Description
Description We are looking for a dedicated Senior Supervisor Transportation/Terminal Manager to oversee terminal operations in Newark, New Jersey. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage a dynamic team, ensure smooth logistical operations, and adapt to evolving business needs. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in transportation management and a strong ability to drive team performance in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee terminal operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance with company standards.
- Manage and coordinate schedules for drivers and office staff based on business demands.
- Lead a team of 5-6 dispatchers and supervise up to 100 drivers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Handle disciplinary actions and provide guidance to both union and non-union drivers.
- Analyze data from new software systems to optimize operations and support business objectives.
- Guide the team through change management processes, addressing resistance and encouraging adaptability.
- Plan and execute the rollout of new software solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
- Supervise reconciliation processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Maintain a 24/7 readiness to address operational needs and emergencies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the seamless support of 400 stores across multiple locations. Requirements
- Proven experience in transportation or terminal management with a focus on logistics.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate diverse teams.
- Proficiency in bookkeeping tasks, including account reconciliation and payroll.
- Familiarity with software systems such as QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data to inform decision-making.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules based on business needs.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach to managing operations.
