P&D Manager Job Description Location:

Pittsburgh North FedEx Ground-Zelienople, PA Position Overview:

The P&D (Pickup and Delivery) Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of package delivery services within the Pittsburgh North FedEx Ground terminal. This role demands a strong presence at the terminal and the ability to foster positive working relationships with all FedEx employees.

Work Schedule:

This is not a traditional Monday-Friday, 9 AM-5 PM position. The role requires flexibility, with some long days and weekend work, but there will also be flexibility when circumstances allow.

Strong work ethic and a willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done Impeccable problem-solving skills Ability to build and lead a team of drivers Effective communication skills for working with FedEx Ground and customers Determination and resourcefulness Reliable follow-up and follow-through Ability to perform routine administrative tasks, including fleet maintenance, accounting, compliance, payroll, and reporting Positive attitude that inspires others Tech-savvy, comfortable with virtual communication and learning new office tools Proficient in Microsoft Office and web-based applications

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

BS or equivalent with 4-6 years of logistics experience in final mile

Day-to-Day Operations:

Ensure all daily P&D routes are staffed, trucks are operational, and routes are generating sufficient revenue Record and report timesheets for payroll Develop and maintain relationships with reputable, affordable vendors for maintenance and repairs Schedule and coordinate regular maintenance and repairs on equipment to avoid breakdowns Train new drivers to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations Ensure driver compliance with daily duties, including paperwork, Hours of Service compliance, and Pre-Trip/Post-Trip inspection Foster a culture of safety and ensure drivers complete monthly safety training Coordinate with FedEx Ground staff to maximize company profitability Ensure quality service to FedEx Ground with available drivers and operable equipment Manage budget and expenses for the terminal/location Work closely with the Fleet Manager to ensure routine maintenance of all trucks Manage the performance of all drivers assigned to the terminal/location Be physically willing and able to drive a P-1000 sized vehicle and safely deliver packages to residential and commercial recipients Excellent contingency planning skills, establishing relationships with part-time drivers and other FedEx contractors for support in times of need Serve as a contingency resource, delivering packages in the event of driver call-offs, shortages, heavy volume, or unforeseen circumstances This role demands dedication, flexibility, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and team leadership.
