Purpose:
The Division Manager – Trucking is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Knight’s Trucking department. The Division Manager, Trucking, coordinates the efficient delivery of products, promotes the safe operation of company equipment, and strives to provide a high level of customer service for both internal and external customers. The Division Manager, Trucking, collaborates with market leaders, drives efficiencies, and strives to improve processes for the department.
Essential Functions:
Ensure full compliance with all safety and environmental policies and procedures. Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to hire, onboard, and retain qualified drivers to meet operational demands. Manage daily dispatch operations, ensuring efficient scheduling, route optimization, and timely communication with drivers. Monitor driver productivity and lane performance; troubleshoot routing and scheduling issues as needed. Coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs with the Shop team to ensure fleet readiness. Support driver performance through regular feedback, annual reviews, timecard approvals, and monthly safety meetings. Utilize KPIs and internal systems to drive efficiency, process improvements, and continuous improvement. Partner with KRM Operations and KC Logistics to align material replenishment with production schedules and order backlog. Oversee sourcing, routing, and transitioning of materials to support operational flow. Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with accounting for ticket reconciliation, fuel usage reporting (IFTA), and invoicing accuracy. Maintain accurate records for equipment operations, maintenance, and compliance. Develop and implement standardized operating procedures to ensure consistency and accountability. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver’s license and knowledge of DOT regulations. Proven leadership experience in transportation, including dispatch, planning, and driver management. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, camera systems, and tracking software. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels. Highly analytical with strong judgment, problem-solving abilities, and a continuous improvement mindset. Demonstrates urgency, adaptability, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings and weekends.
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time. Ability to work indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather, as needed. Ability to use repetitive finger motions to use a keyboard.
