Full-time or Part-time Job Summary:
The Moving Company Team Lead is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily activities of a moving crew to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality relocation services. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and hands-on participation in moving tasks. The Team Lead is expected to maintain professionalism and provide exceptional customer service at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision:
Lead and manage a crew of movers during residential or commercial moves. Assign tasks and ensure the team follows company procedures and safety guidelines. Train new team members on proper packing, loading, and moving techniques.
Customer Service:
Serve as the main point of contact for customers during the move. Address customer questions, concerns, and special requests professionally. Conduct walkthroughs with customers to ensure their belongings are handled appropriately.
Operations:
Oversee the packing, loading, unloading, and unpacking of items. Inspect and document any damage to items or property before and after the move. Coordinate with the Operations Manager to resolve scheduling or logistical issues.
Safety & Compliance:
Enforce safety policies and ensure the crew uses proper lifting techniques and equipment. Conduct vehicle and equipment checks to ensure everything is in good working order. Report accidents, injuries, or equipment malfunctions immediately to management.
Logistics:
Review and understand the move plan, inventory list, and timeline. Ensure the truck is packed securely and efficiently to prevent damage during transit. Maintain an accurate record of hours worked and job progress.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years in a moving company or similar role; leadership experience preferred.
Skills:
Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and manage a team under pressure.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy items (up to 40lbs) and perform physical labor for extended periods. Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with moving equipment (dollies, straps, etc.) and techniques. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Willing to drive a box truck; CDL is a plus. Basic knowledge of inventory systems or moving software.
