Job Responsibilities
Plans, directs, and supervises all functions of the agency’s transportation services ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standards. Directs activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking vehicles. Directs investigations to verify and resolve complaints. Develops and provides in-service training and staff development opportunities; develops and implements departmental policies and procedures. Develops and administers the department budget; monitors budgets and expenditures for compliance with budgetary allocations. Coordinates driver lodging for overnight routes. Supervises supervisory, technical, and support staff; supervisory duties include instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; selecting new employees; acting on employee problems; and recommending employee transfers, promotions and discipline. Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy. Conducts evaluations of staff in accordance with the EPMS guidelines. Directs the development of bus routes on an annual basis; inspects routes and bus stops for appropriateness and safety as needed. Receives and responds to concerns, complaints, and inquiries from agency staff and parents regarding student transportation; meets with parents to discuss student concerns and behavior problems. Investigates bus accidents and incidents and makes recommendations for appropriate response.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
High School Diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services. A Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for work experience. Must possess a valid state CDL drivers license. This position may require communication modalities dependent on employment placement.
