POSITION SUMMARY

The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for building strong partnerships across our organization and throughout their market. They are responsible for building and supporting long-term relationships with our valued Independent Drivers through customer support, problem solving, and maintaining clear and honest communication. The Fleet Supervisor speaks regularly with our Independent Driver partners to solve problems, enter requested service items, approve site fees, and offer other support where needed. This position will have complete organizational support, but at the same time requires a leader that is willing to do the work, not just find someone to delegate the work to.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

All Fleet Supervisors are expected to build strong partnerships with our Independent Driver Partners and assist corporate partners in furthering the growth of Independent Waste. More specific examples are provided below: Driver Partners & Safety Build and maintain strong relationships with Independent Driver partners. Conduct regular safety coaching and provide real-time feedback to promote a safe work environment. Review data within Samsara to identify unsafe acts/trends and develop corrective actions. Investigate vehicle accidents and work with the Director of Operations to determine fault/responsibility. Work with customers to resolve damage claims and onsite safety concerns. Complete in-cab training sessions with new drivers and provide ongoing field coaching. Lead monthly fleet inspections to ensure a healthy and compliant fleet. Run routes as needed to support operations, including covering for PTO, peak volume, or unfilled positions. Maintain flexibility and willingness to travel between markets, if necessary. Recruiting, Training & Orientation Proactively source, screen, and recruit qualified Independent Driver candidates. Conduct interviews and facilitate onboarding for new driver partners. Lead orientation sessions to ensure new drivers understand expectations, company values, and operational processes. Provide hands-on in-cab training and coaching during a new driver’s initial days to ensure alignment and confidence. Operations Assist the Director of Operations with market-level staffing plans and execution. Communicate with vendors and driver partners to resolve mechanical issues and ensure timely repairs. Maintain a sufficient pipeline of qualified 3rd party vendors to support operational needs during peak periods or shortages. Ensure all customer service goals are met by stepping in where needed to support frontline activities. Dispatch & Job Execution Review and approve requested site fees based on clear justification and market expectations. Coordinate with Customer Service and Dispatch daily to align on job priorities, changes, and driver communication. Provide support to Independent Driver partners with the tools, resources, and guidance needed to complete jobs effectively in our app. Customer Service Serve as the final escalation point for complex or urgent customer, dispatch, and service concerns. Act as a professional and responsive representative of Independent Waste to maintain and grow customer satisfaction. Corporate Partners Collaborate with Independent Waste’s leadership team to develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs). Maintain a strong partnership with the Director of Operations to align on safety, training, and fleet performance. Communicate regularly with other Market Managers to share learnings and help drive cross-market performance and scalability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience within logistics/transportation. Minimum 2 years of relevant driving experience. (Required) Valid driver’s license. (Class A or B Required)
