Position Value Proposition The Material Supervisor will ensure a healthy min/max inventory level for material and equipment to maintain the job site fluently without any downtime due to controllable delays. Position Summary The Material Supervisor oversees the efficient handling of all materials for the Roofing, Solar, and HVAC divisions. This includes assigning tasks to Material Handlers based on incoming shipments, pick lists, and reverse inventory processes. The supervisor ensures tasks are completed promptly, prioritizing and managing multiple requests effectively. They are also responsible for training Material Handlers, conducting new hire orientations, and providing refresher courses. Maintaining accurate inventory levels for materials and equipment is a key responsibility, as is promptly communicating replenishment needs to the Warehouse Operations Manager to prevent shortages. Job Responsibilities Administrative Tasks:
Ensure that all forms and documents are completed accurately. Enforce all company procedures and processes. Supervise team and oversee material handling operations Assist in developing training curriculums. Complete any safety incident report. Leads daily staff huddles. I nventory
Management:
Oversee inventory cycle counts, audits and complete reconciliation process. Ensure all warehouse management system entries are accurate and conduct random audit checks for validation. Review material and equipment shortages with Management team. Ensure that staff is allocating material to the proper inventory staging area. Responsible for efficient processing of all material and equipment.
Order Processing:
Assign pick list to staff and that pick list SOP is followed accordingly. Conduct random audit checks to validate accuracy of pick list. Contact Construction Foreman and/ or Construction Manager for any pick list concerns. Ensure that material is properly secured, the trucks are properly loaded and material is loaded safely. Cooperate with Fleet and Equipment team to ensure equipment rotation availability is within acceptable margins. Report any material defects to Management and do not load any expired or unsafe material.
Receiving Goods:
Ensure that staff follows Receiving SOPs. Conduct audits of receiving procedure. Ensure that staff has the proper PPE and tools to receive material and equipment. Verifies staff is completing incoming receiving log accurately. Ensures that material and equipment are inspected and staged in designated areas. Reports any equipment repair needs to Fleet and Equipment team.
Maintenance and Housekeeping:
Ensure that facility and warehouse are clean and organized. Reviews any machinery failures noted on vehicle inspection report with Fleet and Equipment team for prompt repair. Reports any facility and warehouse maintenance needs to Management. Provide routine facility maintenance needs during downtime by designating tasks for staff.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Participate in safety training and meetings. Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the Management promptly. Conduct vehicle and equipment inspection accordingly and follow Tag-Out procedures. Ensure that all storage bins and staging areas are properly secured and safe for use. Ensure that designated staff completes all training requirements relating to safety and operational established procedures.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Education High school diploma or equivalent (Required) College degree preferred Experience 2 years of supervisory experience required Previous Construction Industry – Roofing, Solar or HVAC- Supervisory responsibility preferred Previous Inventory and Material management experience required Forklift certification required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Plan, organize, and ensure the availability of materials to meet service and production needs. Contribute towards company initiatives to increase productivity levels while fostering a great workplace. Ability to identify and resolve issues effectively; and contribute towards action plans for correction. Pass a criminal background check Maintain drug-free culture Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and is deadline driven. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. A strong work ethic and a high level of self-motivation. Strong supervisory and leadership skills with ability to lead and motivate a team. Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices. Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proficient in warehouse management software and databases or trainable in these categories. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish. Contribute towards procurement needs to ensure material inventory is within acceptable levels.
