Shipping Supervisor 2.3 2.3 out of 5 stars Deerfield Beach, FL 33441 Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to oversee daily warehouse operations and manage drivers and delivery processes for our wholesale distribution business. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient inventory management, timely deliveries, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and experience in coordinating logistics and supervising a team of warehouse staff and drivers.
Key Responsibilities Warehouse Operations:
Oversee receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping of wholesale goods to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, audits, and stock reconciliation. Optimize warehouse layout and processes to maximize space utilization and streamline operations.
Driver and Delivery Management:
Schedule and coordinate delivery routes to ensure timely and cost-effective distribution to customers. Supervise a team of drivers, ensuring adherence to delivery schedules, safety protocols, and customer service standards. Monitor driver performance, provide feedback, and ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and company policies. Resolve delivery issues, such as delays, customer complaints, or vehicle maintenance needs.
Team Leadership:
Supervise, train, and motivate warehouse staff and drivers (e.g., 15-20 team members), fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Conduct performance evaluations, address disciplinary issues, and implement training programs to enhance team skills. Ensure proper staffing levels to meet operational demands, including scheduling shifts and approving time-off requests.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce safety standards in the warehouse and during deliveries, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies. Maintain records for driver logs, vehicle inspections, and safety training to meet regulatory requirements. Implement procedures to minimize workplace accidents and ensure proper handling of wholesale goods.
Reporting and Communication:
Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, delivery times, and inventory turnover. Collaborate with sales, procurement, and customer service teams to address customer needs and resolve issues. Provide regular updates to management on warehouse and delivery performance, including recommendations for process improvements.
Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of warehouse supervision experience in a wholesale distribution or logistics environment. At least 2 years of experience managing drivers and coordinating deliveries, with knowledge of route planning and logistics.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise diverse teams. Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and logistics software (e.g., Netsuite, Oracle, or similar). Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle maintenance, and driver compliance requirements. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities. Familiarity with inventory control processes and safety standards (e.g., OSHA).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks in a warehouse environment. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience with wholesale distribution of fences and shutters Familiarity with GPS tracking systems or fleet management software. Proven track record of improving warehouse efficiency or delivery performance.
