Description SUMMARY:
The Lead Shipping Specialist is responsible for the on time and accurate shipping of inventory utilizing the operations in house system and is expected to continually improve the efficiency of the operation through effective use of people, systems, and equipment. This position is accountable for the development and motivation of employees to departmental objectives and company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct subordinates in the daily operation of shipping functions for Shipping Department.
- Must be capable of training new hires, organizing workflow, identifying priorities and ensuring accuracy of shipments.
- Ensure compliance of employees to all corporate and departmental work policies and procedures.
- Must interface effectively with all levels of management in many diverse departments.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies and ensure all areas remain in ISO and corporate compliance.
- Monitor and establish production levels in the shipping areas of the warehouse.
- Establish and monitor employee development and cross training efforts.
- Certified and trained properly in hazardous shipping according to all current IATA regulations.
- Experience with international shipping and understanding of customs regulations.
- All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Must have a minimum of one to two years related experience and/or training.
- Previous experience in warehousing, handling inventory, and bar code equipment.
- Computer keypunch experience
- Knowledge of on line courier systems
- Fork lift operations
- Packaging machines
