OverviewAs the Senior Project Lead- Fleet Safety & DOTCompliance, you will provide overall support and guidance to thesite transportation operations within the Safety, Quality, andCompliance (“SQC”) function. You will report to and coordinate withthe Principal Team Leader-Fleet Safety & DOT Compliance deliveringshort-and-long-term strategies in building a culture of safetywithin the organization. You will implement and monitorsystems/activities to maintain regulatory compliance and providetraining and professional development for driver managers, CMVdrivers, Navigators, and field SQC leaders.
You will monitor thecrash management process, conduct audits of the transportationsafety management programs, and deliver metrics and indicesreflecting performance. ResponsibilitiesTo be successful inthis role, you will support Corporate Fleet Safety & Complianceprograms, drive a safe work culture, evaluate, and mitigate fleetsafety risks, provide Fleet Safety and DOT Compliance training,analyze data to inform safe decision-making, and much more toensure Chick-fil-A Supply facilities comply with all federal,state, and local laws and regulations. Regulatory complianceincludes but is not limited to FDA, USDA, OSHA, and DOT. Inaddition, a successful Senior Project Lead – Fleet Safety & DOTCompliance will support multiple facilities to: Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regardingtransportation Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs andpolicies for Fleet Safety & DOT Compliance. Lead and develop safety and compliance training that supportsadherence to all safety and compliance programs and monitor fortraining effectiveness. Monitor the Hours-of-Service program and processes to ensureregulatory compliance with regulation. Monitor the field completion of the DOT Controlled Substanceand Alcohol program for compliance with regulations. Work with vehicle maintenance to ensure systematic preventivemaintenance for vehicles and make certain that periodic inspectionsare compliant. Monitor the Fleet Incident Management process includingreporting, investigation, preventable determinations,documentation, and management of incidents. Lead the establishment of the Transportation Safety CommitteeMeeting and monitor for effectiveness. Provide a comprehensive and accurate monthly report containingappropriate safety metrics. Provide Site Leaders and SQC Leaders with the followingtraining and provide continued guidance: Fleet Safety, DOTCompliance, Accident Investigation, and Root Cause Analysis.
Conduct DOT compliance and Safety management program assessmentsand ensure a site self-inspection protocol for all assignedlocations. Monitor and report CSA Basic Scores to address trends and driveperformance (review roadside inspections/DOT Recordable Crashes,Crash Preventability etc.). Coach driver managers and vehicle maintenance managers onroadside inspection trends and processes. Provide expertise in the areas of Fleet Safety, DOT Compliance,capital projects, and general safety related issues. Work cross-functionally (e.g., Operations, HR, Legal, IT) toensure corporate policies effectively drive compliance with alllaws, regulations, company policies and procedures. Collaborate with other departments to promote a culture ofsafety throughout the organization. Participate in industry associations and safety events i.e.,safety council, To stay updated on industry best practices andregulatory changes. Support company mission, values, and standards of ethics andintegrity. Ensure Fleet Safety & Compliance strategy execution as setforth by Chick-fil-A Supply.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency. 4+ years Safety Management and DOT Compliance or TransportationManagement experience. Extensive knowledge of federal and state safety laws,particularly DOT, FMCSR, and OSHA standards. Working knowledge of Analytical Tools and other logisticssoftware including ELP systems. Working knowledge of the performance management/monitoringsystems. Analysis and identification of risk trends, problems, andsolutions. Ability to interact cooperatively, collaboratively, andcross-functionally with others as a team. Understand and apply meaningful operations and safetyperformance metrics. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communicationskills Self-starter able to work independently or in a group, adapt toshifting priorities, and who enjoys creating and implementing newinitiatives Ability to communicate well with team members and leaders tomeet goals and deadlines Ability to multi-task and drive execution across multiplepriorities Experience driving clarity in ambiguous situations/environments Excellent organizational skills and close attention todetail Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications includingMicrosoft Project (or Smartsheet or equivalent)PreferredQualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Logistics, BusinessAdministration, or a related field. In-depth understanding of DOT regulations and compliancerequirements. Experience working with ELP (camera) and DOT compliancevendors. Skilled in Organizational Design and Management. Have at least 5 years in food distribution operations. Certified Director of Safety (CDS) or related safetydesignation preferred.
