General Function:

It is the responsibility of each employee of the Company to understand and promote the Company Mission Statement and Statement of Values while adhering to the Company Code of Conduct. The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the Shipping Manager in all warehouse and yard functions in an efficient manner.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Personnel. Assisting with activities of yard personnel engaged in receiving, shipping and waiting on customers. Assisting the Shipping Manager in the training and maintaining of training records of drivers and yard and warehouse personnel. Inventory. Assisting when needed to ensure all incoming shipments are received promptly and accurately. Conducting inventory cycle counts as scheduled. Helping maintain inventory in a neat and logical manner. Ensure all credit returns are handled accurately, when needed. Safety. Maintaining a clean, organized and safe yard and warehouse. Ensuring all warehouse and yard personnel comply with Company safety policy. Addressing all safety concerns and reporting to the General Manager. Helping ensure all forklift operators have passed the Forklift Written Licensing Exam. Ensuring compliance with all DOT requirements for vehicles and CDL drivers. Maintaining and inspecting all assigned vehicles according to Company policies. Shipping. Ensuring all shipments and customer pickups are done timely and accurately. Ensuring all materials are loaded properly to allow a safe delivery. Requiring compliance of all drivers with Company log-in procedures. General – As Harbin Lumber Company, Inc. is a group of locations each working individually and as a team, the Shipping Coordinator must be a team player and must develop positive working relationships with all location personnel, Outside Sales Representatives, and other Company employees.

Physical Requirements:

Heavy lifting up to 100 pounds will be required on an occasional basis.

Working Conditions:

The work is primarily outside work in all types of weather. On occasion, this employee may be required to travel with a driver to assist delivery at the job site.

Experience:

Minimum of one year experience in a warehouse or yard for a contractor oriented building supply company or other industry preferred.

Education:

High school diploma or GED is required.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

The skill to operate a forklift and to pass the Forklift Operator Written Licensing Exam; knowledge of inventory control.
