This role ensures that materials are received, verified, labeled, stored, and shipped according to company and project-specific standards. The Shipping Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring material accuracy, workflow efficiency, and adherence to safety and quality procedures. Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience & Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in a fabrication or industrial environment (piping, vessel, and/or structural). Proven experience in personnel supervision and operations coordination. Strong comprehension of technical documentation (e.g., safety regulations, maintenance instructions). Effective verbal communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and internal teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). Ability to write professional correspondence and reports. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Supervise daily shipping and receiving operations, including Receiving Clerk and Warehouse/Material Expeditors. Ensure accurate receiving of materials and equipment, including: verifying orders, quantities, grades, country of origin, and labeling. Organizing and storing materials by project and phase. Review and process receiving paperwork within 24 hours. Oversee proper allocation of materials to shop jobs and confirm Shop Material Requests before distribution. Notify purchasing personnel immediately of shortages, errors, or damaged materials. Quarantine and report incorrect or incomplete material deliveries to Project Manager. Label and inventory all drop material returned from shops; ensure MTRs are attached. Quarantine additional materials for return and confirm vendor paperwork upon return. Identify reusable materials for allocation to bid projects for cost savings. Submit daily time reports to the time clerk by 7:30 AM; approve department time in ADP daily. Coordinate with Yard Operations Manager and Project Managers to prevent shipping conflicts. Monitor proper staging and preparation of shipments to meet loading schedules. Report repeated personnel performance issues to the Shop Superintendent and Division Manager for follow-up. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor with customers, vendors, and team members.
