About the Position
The Accounting Team Lead position serves in the Accounting Department of the Mississippi Alcohol Beverage Control Division of the Mississippi Department of Revenue. This role involves managing a team of employees who handle accounting, customer service, and processing tasks within the DOR tax system and the statewide accounting program (MAGIC). The primary responsibility of the Accounting Team Lead is to ensure that all transactions are processed in compliance with agency policies and procedures. Key duties include directing and overseeing all functions related to accounting operations, ensuring adherence to relevant rules, policies, and regulations. The Accounting Team Lead also reviews accounts payable activities to verify the proper payment of documents, maintains accounting controls, and updates accounting procedures to adapt to changing conditions. In addition to these responsibilities, the Accounting Team Lead engages in personnel management tasks, such as hiring, training, and conducting performance evaluations. This position requires answering questions and resolving issues for liquor suppliers, retailers, other business partners, agency employees, and executive staff. Moreover, the Accounting Team Lead prepares and provides financial reports for state annual reporting, federal government requirements, and upon request by state auditors.
