Duties of the lead shipping and receiving coordinator: Supervise and mentor a team of logistics and warehouse personnel, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and professional development. Assign tasks and projects, monitor workload distribution, and ensure adherence to deadlines and quality standards. Foster a collaborative team environment that promotes open communication and effective teamwork. Oversee the coordination of shipments including scheduling, tracking, and managing the transportation of goods to ensure on-time delivery. Manage inventory levels, conduct regular audits, and optimize inventory management processes to minimize stock-outs and excess inventory. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements including customs regulations, transportation laws, and safety standards. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, carriers, and logistics service providers to negotiate favorable terms and ensure reliable service delivery. Evaluate vendor performance, address issues or discrepancies, and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain high standards of service. Identify opportunities for process improvement within the logistics function including optimizing transportation routes, streamlining inventory management processes, and implementing cost-saving initiatives. Analyze logistics data and metrics to identify trends, monitor performance across key performance indicators (KPI’s), and drive continuous improvement efforts. Ensure accurate and timely completion of shipping documentation including bills of lading, customs documentation, and export/import paperwork. Generate comprehensive reports on logistics activities, performance metrics, and operational efficiencies for management review and decision making. Requirements to be the lead shipping and receiving coordinator: High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in science or related field preferred. 5 years of relevant experience in shipping and receiving. Experience in a USDA or FDA regulated facility preferred.
