POSITION PURPOSE
The Shipping Lead is responsible for the oversight of our shipments to our retail customers. This position will work cross-functionally within the warehouse and production. This individual will have a clear oversight of the shipping dock operations and outbound shipments, ensuring a flawless flow of outbound shipment to customers. The Shipping Lead should communicate accurate shipment status and troubleshoot escalation steps when necessary. This position will drive continuous improvement and champion employee initiatives to create and promote an environment where employees are involved and committed to the success of Bona. The Shipping Lead will demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and time management and will also contribute to a positive team atmosphere.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DUTIES QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Proven work experience as a Shipping/Receiving Clerk or similar role Flexibility to work different hours throughout the week as needed Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and warehouse management best practice concepts Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to drive results Effective verbal and written communication and organizational skills, strong analytical skills with attention to details, and able to influence individuals to achieve results Extensive working knowledge of PC functions and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook Supervisory experience a plus Familiar with outbound freight weights
JOB DUTIES
Ensures timely outbound shipments. Accepts and documents outbound BOLs for the facility. Stores documents in appropriate storage areas. Documents and communicates discrepancies and changes. Prepares items and paperwork for shipping and receiving, noting contents, delivery methods, and other logistical details. Identifies and resolves shipping, storage, or receiving discrepancies as they arise. Maintains a clearly organized workspace. Obtains and processes product orders. Schedules large shipments and plans logistics to ensure there is sufficient storage space for incoming items. Prepares regular shipping reports for managers. Able and willing to work the necessary hours to meet all project deadlines. Develop mutually beneficial, respectful, and effective relationships with peers to ensure seamless coordination between departments, maximize synergy, and maintain a shared vision, strategy, and focus. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time. Must be able to bend, climb stairs, and continuously stand or walk 25% of the time. Must be able to move within the office and plant to reach file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Must be able to use dexterity to handle small safety equipment and/or hazardous material. Must be able to lift and carry 15-25 pounds and frequently move equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to communicate effectively by listening and in both written and verbal forms.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Generally, works in a warehouse environment but is also required to perform job duties in a typical office setting. This position regularly requires large amounts of time to be spent using warehouse equipment, which generally entails regular and repetitive motions along with exposure to loud noises. All safety procedures should be adhered to in these situations. This position also requires some amount of time to be spent using computer equipment, which entails regular and repetitive motions. Will regularly be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or chemicals. All safety procedures should be adhered to in each of these situations. Subject to working near moving parts of heavy machinery and high voltage equipment where use of appropriate safety equipment is required. Work includes indoors and outdoors environment during possible adverse weather conditions.
