Job Description Job Summary The overall objective of this position is to be responsible for managing the operations at one of our established wholesale HVAC distribut orships that carry multiple brands of equipment, parts, and supplies at Baker Distributing Co. The ultimate goal of this role is to function as acting manager in the absence of the Distribution Center (DC) Manager and manage the daily operations of all facets of the Distribution Center. Essential Duties/Accountabilities Represent Baker Distributing Co. LLC as a leader in the industry ensuring maximum sales and profitability. Supervise all functions of the Distribution Center in a professional manner; including scheduling carriers, scheduling shipments, labor claims, and freight claims for missing or dama ged equipment/supplies. Work to schedule shipments to the sales centers with our carriers. Order supplies for the Distribution Center. Schedule Prompt and efficient delivery orders to sales centers, customers, and vendors. Help determine and monitor inventory stock levels. Oversee equipment maintenance , safety, and repairs. Train and supervise a work force including Warehouse Associates, Delivery Associates, and Fleet Drivers. Work on all Company reports and reporting processes. Conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner in all aspects of interaction with contractors, customers, and employees. Coordinate Distribution Center training and Company/Center events. Manage inventory to ensure proper turns and minimum loss throughout the year. Responsible for Distribution Center P&L. Responsible for training and leading a diversified work force. Other duties as assigned. And here is what you will need to be successful: Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED required . Bachelor s Degree in Business or related field preferred. Minimum 2-4 years operational experience within the wholesale/distribution/ logistics industry, preferably in the operations of a wholesale HVAC equipment supply house. Experience in shipping, logistics , operations, warehousing and inventory management. Strong interpersonal skills including sales, problem solving, and customer service are required . Experience in OSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory requirements preferred. Experience leading a large team within a distribution center. Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with skills to multi-task on different levels . Must possess the attitude of wanting to learn, teach , and lead. Mechanical or Technical background. Proficient in Microsoft Office product ( e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook). Proven success in managing and mentoring other employees while establishing the Distribution Center s business goals. Skills Must be able to operate a Forklift and all equipment in the distribution center Know how to use an RF device. Must be able to pick the correct item as directed by the RF device. Must be able to pick the correct quantity as directed by the RF device. Must be able to stack product and move product properly as to prevent damage to product. Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and understanding English to ensure full compliance with safety standards, training, policies, and procedures. Work Environment The employee is regularly required to work in an office, warehouse, or outdoor environment. While performing the duties of this position, employee regularly travels to Company locations and works i n offices and other warehouse/storeroom environments. Position will require employee to travel between sites in all types of weather and employee may be subjected to all types of weather conditions Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and be able to use appropriate support equipment to lift and move greater amounts. The employee is frequently required to stand , sit , walk , climb, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, and telephone for prolonged periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to work in restricted spaces and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions. Will be required to work within a warehouse environment that may include exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity. The employee may use equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment. Must be able to utilize heavy machinery.
