Dock Coordinator George P. Johnson Experience Marketing Nashville, TN Our Opportunity GPJ is hiring a Dock Coordinator to join our growing team. This role is on-site, requiring you to report to our Smyrna, TN office location a minimum of 5 days per week. Your Role In the Dock Coordinator role, you are responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the loading and unloading docks. This role ensures the efficient and safe handling of goods, coordinates with various departments, and maintains accurate records of shipments. You play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate receipt and dispatch of goods.
Your Skills Loading and Unloading Operations:
Oversee the loading and unloading of shipments. Ensure that goods are handled safely and efficiently. Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments.
Coordination and Communication:
Coordinate with warehouse staff, drivers, and other departments to ensure smooth operations. Communicate with suppliers and carriers regarding shipment schedules and issues. Provide updates to management on dock operations and potential issues.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all dock operations comply with company policies and safety regulations. Conduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards or violations. Train staff on safe handling procedures and the use of equipment.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including receipts, dispatches, and returns. Prepare and submit reports on dock operations and inventory levels. Ensure proper documentation of damaged or missing goods.
Inventory Management:
Assist in inventory counts and reconciliation. Coordinate the staging and storage of goods in the warehouse. Monitor inventory levels and report discrepancies to management.
Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure that all dock equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, are in good working condition. Schedule and oversee regular maintenance and repairs of equipment. Report any equipment malfunctions or needs for replacement.
Problem-Solving:
Address and resolve issues related to dock operations, such as delays, damages, or discrepancies. Implement solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness of dock operations. Proactively identify areas for improvement and recommend changes to management. Your Experience Experience & Education High School Diploma 2 (+) years of industry related experience. Proof of certification for forklift operation. Travel & Mobility Ability to travel 5% Your Impact In your role, you will have influence and responsibility over: Operating heavy machinery to safely move product loads around the facility, including loading onto trucks. Communicating upstream and downstream to all relevant stakeholders regarding project workload, inventory, and changes as necessary. Utilizing GPJ inventory systems to track, manage, label, and account for all GPJ client-owned inventory. Working well in a deadline-driven and frequently stressful environment.
