The Warehouse Clerk plays a key role in supporting our mission by ensuring the safe, efficient, and organized handling of food inventory. This position involves receiving, storing, and preparing food items for distribution while maintaining a clean and safe warehouse environment. The warehouse clerk’s record keeping assists in the timely, efficient, and accurate reporting to multiple partners and authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive, inspect, and properly store incoming food donations and purchases. Pick, pack, and stage food orders for partner agencies and distribution events. Assist in conducting regular inventory counts and maintain accurate records. Operate warehouse equipment safely (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts if certified). Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse space following all safety guidelines. Help coordinate and support volunteer groups working in the warehouse. Assist with loading and unloading trucks. Follow food safety standards (FIFO, food handling best practices, etc.). Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, volunteers, and partner agencies. Perform other duties as assigned to support the food bank’s operations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous warehouse, inventory, or logistics experience a plus. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly. Comfortable working in varying warehouse conditions (cold storage, standing for long periods). Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and communication. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and teamwork mentality. Commitment to the mission of hunger relief and serving the community.
