Warehouse Receiver Bishop’s Orchards & Farm Market 1355 Boston Post Road, Guilford, CT 06437 The Receiver at Bishop’s Orchards is responsible for managing all inbound deliveries, using warehouse management systems to receive and process refrigerated and dry grocery products. The primary function is to accurately match bills of lading to purchase orders, edit quantities as needed, and ensure product quality and food safety standards. The Receiver will inspect all arriving products, record key details such as temperature, and restack pallets to ensure proper warehouse storage. This position also involves operating powered industrial equipment and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment.

Responsibilities:

Utilize computerized warehouse management systems via radio frequency scanners and handheld devices to accurately receive and track products. Operate dock plates, dock locks, and warehouse loading bay doors safely and efficiently. Operate electric/motorized pallet jacks (single or double) and forklifts to move, load, and restack products. Inspect all inbound products for quality, correct temperatures, and compliance with Bishop’s Orchards’ food safety standards. Match bills of lading to purchase orders and accurately update inventory records. Restack pallets to optimize space and ensure proper warehouse racking. Assist with warehouse cleaning and organization to maintain a safe, efficient workspace. Follow all company safety procedures and comply with health and safety regulations. Arrive on time, wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and complete all required training and scheduled shifts. Perform other duties as assigned by warehouse leadership.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Ability to read and communicate in basic English. Ability to perform basic math quickly (add, subtract, multiply, understand Ti/Hi pallet stacking). Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and accuracy. Must be 21 years of age or older.

Preferred Experience:

Previous receiving experience in a food, grocery, or warehouse environment preferred. Experience working with electric or motorized pallet jacks and forklifts preferred. Experience working directly with delivery drivers. Basic computer skills, warehouse management system experience is a plus.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations. Regularly lift up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift up to 70 lbs (team lifts recommended for heavier loads). Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and stepping on/off powered equipment throughout the shift. Ability to work in cold and wet environments including freezers (-10°F), refrigerators (32°F to 46°F), and general warehouse temperatures (34°F to 46°F). Comfortable using equipment such as box cutters and pallet jacks. Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.

Schedule and Availability:

Average shift length: Approximately 8 hours. Must be able to work a rotating schedule. Saturdays and Holidays when needed.
