We partner with over 225 churches and non-profit agencies to provide emergency food assistance across Coastal Georgia in twenty-one counties. Last year, Second Harvest provided more than 23 million pounds of food to hungry people in our 21-county service area through a variety of programs. We are currently hiring for the following hourly, full time position:
Job Title:
Warehouse Associate Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accurately pick and stage deliveries and pickups of Second Harvest products. Accurately account for all product received and transfers of product between warehouses Assist with unloading, inspecting, and inventorying all product arriving at Second Harvest. Assist in loading and checking all orders departing Food Bank to ensure accuracy prior to delivery. Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive relations with Second Harvest donors, partner agencies, staff and volunteers. Perform routine inspection/preventive maintenance on warehouse equipment reporting any issues to Director of Operations. Provide accurate and timely reports as necessary and assigned, including inventory and cycle counts. Work to maintain food safety, pest control, and inventory control standards Observe safety practices while in the warehouse as well as operating warehouse equipment including, but not limited to, the forklift and motorized pallet jacks. Comply with safety policies and programs developed for warehouse operations. Support efforts to main clean, safe, and orderly facility following AIB and Feeding America guidelines. Read and have good working knowledge of the Second Harvest Warehouse Practices Manual and other pertinent manuals/materials related to Food Bank programs. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent experience Warehouse and/or forklift driving experience required Successfully complete the Forklift Operator Safety Training certification and ServSafe Food Handling course within 30 days of employment. Lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs regularly, up to 60 lbs. occasionally without restrictions. Handle a high volume of work in short periods. Complete work in an accurate, effective, and timely manner. Work in a variety of extreme temperatures including a ventilated, non-air-conditioned warehouse and a deep freezer for extended periods of time. Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours without restrictions. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal history background check.
