Job Description
- A material handler with crane is responsible for:
- Operating and managing crane operations for the movement of cargo and materials
- Following safety regulations and protocols during crane operations
- Inspecting cranes and lifting gear before use to ensure safety
- Coordinating and guiding the placement of loads with a team of riggers
- Locating materials by pulling and verifying materials listed on production orders
- Operating an overhead crane and forklift
- Bending, stooping, and lifting to load material into crates and bins
- Moving materials, including beams, tubing, plates, etc., from one area to another
- Keeping fitters supplied with specified material
- Assisting with unloading roller beds on the drill line
- Operating an overhead crane
- Bending, standing, walking, lifting, and climbing repetitively throughout the day
- Having a good work ethic
- Observing load hookup and determining the safety of the load
- Manipulating or depressing crane control buttons to regulate the speed and direction of crane and hoist movement
- Using hoisting attachments such as hooks, slings, or buckets as required
- Cleaning and maintaining a crane and hoisting mechanism
- Securing lifting attachments to materials and conveying the load to its destination
- Counting, weighing, and recording the number of units of materials moved or handled on a daily production sheet.
