Augusta Area Command Rate of Pay:

$10.00 per hour This position is responsible for: Receives, sorts and stores donated items in the Donation Center; determines the acceptability of donated items based on established standards; operates baler; assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.

Key Responsibilities:

Receives, inspects and sorts donated items according to the category and condition. Selects items suitable for storage and distributes same to appropriate storage area in accordance with established procedures. Tags items with dates in accordance with established procedures. Packs items in boxes and marks boxes accordingly. Assists in transporting boxes to appropriate storage area. Prepares non-suitable items for discard. Lifts and carries items to the appropriate destination for further processing and storage. Maintains inventory of items in storage; reports any known entries after hours or missing items. Discourages unauthorized visitors in the warehouse area; notifies supervisor immediately of the same. Maintains warehouse and loading dock area in a neat and orderly manner; cleans floors, tables and work areas. Loads and fluffs clothes in the baler machine to secure a solid bail of clothing with wire. Responds to requests from Administration for furnishing, equipment and supplies. May assist in answering the telephone; provides general information and records messages. Serve as lead worker to beneficiaries and community service workers and volunteers. May assist in preparing receipts for items received from vendors and donors. Aids the food pantry as needed. Counts daily income when needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements; Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language; Ability to meet attendance requirements; Ability to physically lift and carry and /or push/pull light objects (less than 25 lbs.). Moderate mobility ability. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of travel is usually within the same building. Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
