$26K – $30.3K a year 1 day ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Entry level Full Job Description The Metal Grinder and Cleaner is responsible for preparing metal parts and surfaces by grinding, smoothing, and cleaning to ensure they meet quality and safety standards. This role plays a key part in the production process by ensuring components are properly finished for assembly, painting, or shipping.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use hand tools, grinders, sanders, and other equipment to smooth and finish metal parts.
• Remove burrs, rust, scale, or other surface imperfections from metal products.
• Clean parts using chemical solutions, power washers, or manual cleaning methods.
• Inspect finished surfaces for conformance to specifications.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
• Assist with material handling and staging of parts as needed.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Communicate with supervisors or team leads about part defects or equipment issues.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience with metal grinding or surface preparation is a plus.
• Ability to read and understand basic blueprints or work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Familiarity with shop safety and proper tool usage.
• Willingness to work in a noisy, industrial environment.
