The Staff Distribution Engineer will work onproject teams to create world class designs for new projects,alterations and re-developments on a variety of 2.4kV to 34.5kVoverhead and underground utility distribution projects. The StaffDistribution Engineer will work with the project team throughoutthe design and construction process, adapting electricaldistribution plans according to budget constraints, design factorsor client needs.
Duties:
Develop and prepare distribution voltagepackages for both overhead and underground projects, includingdistribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cablereplacement, and new feeder design. Develop and prepare designsketches, cost estimates, bill of materials, and other requireddeliverables. Perform various distribution calculations, includingcable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations. Applystrong knowledge of NESC standards and utility standards, guides,specifications and procedures. Research and compile project relateddata as required by the project managers. Perform field inspectionsfor overhead and underground electric facilities on public andprivate utility systems. Prepare and disseminate projectcommunication regarding vegetation management, third partyattachments, right of way and outage planning. Present reports andvisualizations to clients which demonstrate technical results andproject statuses. All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related degree from an ABETaccredited program. Or Bachelor of Science in Engineering orrelated Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program andsuccessful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Master of Science degree in Engineering may be substituted for oneyear experience. 3 years of applicable engineering experience,consulting preferred. Successful completion (i.e. passing) FE orEIT preferred. Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniquesand procedures. Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft OfficeSuite). Proficient knowledge of distribution design softwareexperience preferred. Excellent written and verbal communicationskills. Ability to work methodically and analytically in aquantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated criticalthinking skills. Strong attention to detail, facilitation, teambuilding, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
