Position Description IT Warehouse Associate Description of Position:
IT Warehouse Associate will support and work directly with IT Asset Warehouse Manager to create and keep a smooth flow of equipment as they are received in and sent out of our warehouse. Warehouse Associate will primarily assist with receiving IT assets on Business Client Recycling Pickups and Residential Customer Recycling Drop-Offs, sorting IT assets, and preparing for resale. Secondary tasks include IT asset testing and refurbishment.
Note:
Although these may be the main duties, the Associate will be cross-trained in other departments and may be required to assist in those areas on an as-needed basis.
Purpose of Position:
To process and organize large volumes of IT inventory to prepare it for other Team Members to test and resell and, primarily, to assist the Warehouse Manager by taking care of repetitive, labor-intensive tasks. After resale, to package and ship assets to customers and Clients. This position includes responsibilities like logistics, asset sorting and cleaning, system specs data tracking with our enterprise resource planning software (ERP).
Salary:
This full-time position will have an hourly wage, working 40 hours/week. Starting hourly pay is at $17
- 22/hour for those with minimal warehouse and logistics background.
Retirement and health insurance benefits have yet to be extended to our team, underscoring though that we issue a tiered quarterly bonus that’s based on net profit to all non-commissioned full-time employees.

Key Results Areas:
Knowing & Learning IT Assets:
Preference for Warehouse Associate to have a good working knowledge of general IT hardware — such as computers, laptops, servers, and network equipment, etc. — and the ability to distinguish between higher and lower specifications. However, prior knowledge is not mandatory if the Warehouse Associate has a strong willingness and aptitude to learn different asset classes, models, etc.
Sorting and Receiving Assets:
As a recycler, we are an asset management company and we deal with a large volume of IT equipment. There are a lot of day-to-day tasks that are quite time consuming and detail-oriented and for which the Warehouse Associate would be responsible — tasks such as wiping and shredding hard drives, cutting wire, sorting scrap, sorting and wrapping power supplies, opening devices to extract batteries, taping batteries, cleaning equipment and facilities, etc. Proper sorting and receiving minimizes mistakes to maximize revenue.
Recycling Pickups:
Warehouse Associate will work with our IT Asset Warehouse Manager to receive IT equipment from our Clients throughout the city, engaging in a professional/ cordial manner and securing equipment in truck for safe transit to warehouse. Shredding of hard-drives also occurs on-site at Client’s location. Warehouse Associate may be the primary pickup driver of our 16′ or 26′ trucks and therefore truck driving experience is a plus. Warehouse Associate will need to accurately inventory all incoming assets.
Residential Customer Recycling Drop-Offs:

- set Warehouse Manager to receive electronics recycling from our Customer Drop-Offs in a customer service role. This includes engaging in a professional/cordial manner to wel
- come people, carry recycling indoors, weigh equipment, charge for sales with Point of Sales system, and upsell our services by sharing our business services and being knowledgable about our business-level offerings and nonprofit impact.
Warehouse Associate may be the primary person facilitating Drop-Offs.
Asset Processing:
Warehouse Associate will occasionally need to securely process, evaluate and prepare inventory, which includes testing and verifying technology in compliance with NAID and all requisite certification standards. Warehouse Associate will engage with and master the Phoenix Solutions ERP software, Electronics Alpha.
Packing & Shipping:
We primarily sell laptop and desktop computers, and these sales serve as our key revenue driver. Warehouse Associate may assist with accurate shipping on a daily basis. There can be anywhere from 1 hour to 5 hours per day of packing and shipping. Primary tasks are to find the proper item needing to be shipped, find or make the right sized box, safely pack the item, and generate a shipping label.
Inventory Workflow:
Warehouse Associate will be working extensively with the IT Asset Warehouse Manager and Director of IT Operations in the warehouse and other Associates in order to process inventory. The Warehouse Associate assists the Phoenix Solutions team overall to design, develop, implement, improve and automate a successful inventory workflow.
Data Management:
Data management is the operations process for securely tracking the data that we receive from our Clients. It’s a rigorous standard so that we can assure our Clients that all of their data has been effectively sanitized (wiped) and/or destroyed according to NAID specifications. As this position is considered an “access employee” role through our NAID certification, the Warehouse Associate will need to meet and pass all related requirements after signing a confidentiality agreement: NAID Access Employee Training Program (AETP) and exam, 7-year employment history verification, 7-year criminal record search, as well as pre-hire and ongoing drug screening.

Warehouse Associate will need the following skills and strengths to excel in this position: A high “fact finder” will be needed; someone who likes details, precision and documentation. Extremely high “follow through” is required An individual who seeks to create a plan and systematize, is able to distinguish patterns, coordinate needs, demonstrate a capacity to organize information and materials, and who brings both focus and closure to projects.
