Job Title:
Material Handler Job Description Responsible for safely transporting material from clients’ locations to assigned destinations for processing or disposal. Perform tasks to load and unload material using commercial trucks and/or heavy/agricultural equipment, which may include tankers and end dump trailers in an off-road environment. Responsibilities Complete a daily truck log and submit reports of mileage covered at the end of the day. Serve as a brand advocate and ambassador in every interaction with clients and the public. Conduct daily inspections and perform preventative maintenance on trucks and equipment. Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT), state, local, and in-house regulations, procedures, and rules. Operate trucks and equipment in a safe manner at all times. Perform loading, unloading, and timely delivery of materials to assigned or approved destinations. Travel from job site to job site or plant to job site, which may involve overnight travel. Clean bio-solids off trucks and equipment before leaving the field site. Perform shop clean-up, maintenance, and equipment/tools setup. Maintain operation records. Essential Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to operate heavy or agricultural equipment safely. Proficient in backing up trucks and equipment. Capable of memorizing routes and following directions. Ability to perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment. Strong organizational skills. Problem-solving capabilities. Willingness to travel. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) Class A with Tanker Endorsement preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial driving or operating heavy/agricultural equipment. Safe driving record with no serious tickets or accidents in the last 5 years, and no DWI/DUI in the last 10 years. Work Environment The position requires sitting, climbing, balancing, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, feeling, and lifting up to 75 lbs. The work involves talking, hearing, and seeing. The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions with no effective protection from weather. The worker may be exposed to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. The role involves proximity to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical current, and working on scaffolding and high places. Exposure to high heat or bio-solids is possible. Travel is required.
