SUMMARY:

We have an immediate, Full-time opening for a Warehouse Customer Service Representative with responsibility for the distribution of building materials (primarily roofing and siding products) to residential and commercial builders and contractors from our branch location in Utica, NY . ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

including but are not limited to: Working with other employees in a cooperative, team environment. Communicating effectively with customers, co-workers and vendor representatives. Reading and interpreting work orders, customer invoices and other documents. Independently determining products and materials needed for customer pick-up or delivery. Moving and / or lifting heavy materials by hand (up to 100 pounds, frequently).

Operating a forklift to safely:

load customer vehicles, load Erie Materials delivery trucks, unload vendor trucks, and move materials in stock areas, etc. Cleaning and organizing warehouse area(s) including but not limited to: arranging products and materials, sweeping floors, maintaining clean parking lot areas, emptying trash cans, etc. Performing additional responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A driver’s license and forklift certification are preferred.
