As a Dockhand at LYC, you’ll be part of a passionate and professional team at one of the most prestigious yacht clubs in the country. This is more than a seasonal job—it’s an opportunity to gain hands-on maritime experience in a beautiful waterfront setting, while playing an essential role in our club’s operations and member experience. Position Summary The Dockhand is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and cleanliness of the Club’s docks, waterfront facilities, and fuel dock. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals interested in marine operations, boating, or hospitality, offering an excellent introduction to the maritime industry. In this highly visible and member-facing position, professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude are essential. Dockhands are often the first point of contact for members and guests arriving by boat, and play a key role in upholding the welcoming and service-oriented culture of LYC. Key Responsibilities Operate and monitor the fuel dock , assisting vessels with fueling safely and efficiently Greet, assist, and secure vessels during docking and undocking procedures Maintain the cleanliness and organization of docks, dry sail areas, kayak/SUP racks, and other waterfront facilities Provide support for pump-out services , ensuring equipment is operated safely and correctly Promote and maintain member safety on and around the water Assist in routine boatyard maintenance , including trash removal, supply restocking, and minor repairs Represent the club with professionalism during special events and regattas, supporting logistical dockside needs Collaborate with the Marine Facilities team on ongoing waterfront projects and seasonal preparations Assist with winter boating activities such as Frostbiting, if employed through the winter season Qualifications & Requirements Strong customer service orientation and a collaborative team mindset Genuine interest in boating, sailing, or waterfront operations Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks (lifting, bending, standing) CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain prior to start) Safe Boating Certificate (NASBLA-approved) strongly preferred Limited Master / Launch Operator License a plus Must be available to work weekends and holidays , including evenings during the peak summer season Must be at least 16 years old What We Offer Competitive hourly pay A supportive and enthusiastic team environment Exposure to the world of yachting and marine trades Networking opportunities within a prestigious private club Training and mentorship in maritime operations Join us at the Larchmont Yacht Club and spend your season working on the water, building lifelong skills, and helping to deliver unforgettable experiences to our members.
