As a Material Handler , you will: Receives, Identifies, examines and determines destination acceptability of items from a variety of supply sources including contractors, commercial vendors, and other federal installations. These items include standard and specialized parts, material, machine tools, hardware, petroleum products, lumber, steel and electrical plumbing, laboratory and office supplies, etc. Uses a number of measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, scales and meters as well as conversion charts to ascertain dimensions and make necessary computations. Determines the type of item and dimension check criteria using drawings and to use assembly drawings or simple blueprints in identifying parts to determine the completeness of incoming shipments. Maintains status of incoming material through accessing automated systems. Examines items and compares to purchase order or other documents to verify the correctness of the shipment. Assigns sequential control numbers to non-expendable items. Furnishes data to stock control, when it must obtain additional information from manufacturers in order to identify equipment. Informs users of discrepancies and obtains a decision concerning the item`s acceptability. Initiates rejection reports, listing faults or defects attesting to nonconformity with order requirements or other discrepancies. Verifies documents attesting to the correctness of the items specified section. – Reports missing parts and discrepancies to the supervisor for correction. Expedites processing of material identified as critical or urgent. Tags rejected material and forwards to temporary storage area, maintaining a control card file on the material, showing location and status of items awaiting disposition. Plans loading and unloading procedures for incoming items. Obtains receiving documents and unloads incoming shipments of supplies and material as necessary. Directs other personnel in carrying out loading operations.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum eighteen months experience at a Material Handler I level in areas of material handling, supply, distribution, inspection, QA, or related processes. High school diploma or GED required. This is a Full-Time/Contract opportunity.
