SUMMER JOB – DOCKHAND.

Also we are always looking for “fill-in” kayak guides. (See details below) Kayak Hilton Head is located at Broad Creek Marina in Hilton Head. 18 Simmons Road. Might be the most fun summer job you’ll ever have! Our dockhands are usually on their high school or college summer break. You’ll just be hanging out at the marina helping customers in and out of kayaks. It’s really not too much more than that. Work in a fun environment at Broad Creek Marina. Feel free to borrow some kayaks on days off. Occasionally catch a few crabs or shrimp for our guides to show the kids in their tour groups. Most of our summer dockhands come back a few summers in a row because it’s a relaxed job in the mornings (and some days into early/mid afternoon) so no need to be in a restaurant working until 10 or 11 at night with a manager barking out orders at you or stuck inside doing retail. (Because hours can at times vary even on a day by day basis due to unexpected bad weather, it’s best that dockhands live on Hilton Head and are old enough to drive themselves to work or close enough to ride a bike to work if a shift gets cut short due to weather. Morning traffic and occasional shorter shifts make it hard to do this job if living off the island.) $14-$15 per hour plus some tips. Please send a text to 843-422-9838 if interested.

We keep a small list of fill-in guides that fill in a time or two per week when our regular guides want a tour off. Most of our fill-in guides move into a more regular part-time position after demonstrating that they are a knowledgeable kayak guide that shows up with a good attitude and has fun with our guests. Kayak guides start at a MINIMUM $25/HOUR

We do use fill-in guides on a weekly basis and in essence it just means you are hired as a very part-time part-timer. Generally any candidates looking to do this needs to have prior experience as a kayak guide and generally it’s best that you live on Hilton Head or very close to the bridge.
