$32.1K – $38K a year 8 hours ago Qualifications Entry level Full Job Description Job Title Dock Hand Reports to Dockmaster Job Purpose Perform all duties and services required of harbor personnel in a safe, courteous, efficient and professional manner at all times. Duties and Responsibilities Provides assistance to members and guests in getting underway and mooring their boats in accordance with the rules and etiquette of good seamanship. Provides all services available in the normal operation of the harbor according to procedures prescribed by the dock master, including boat washes, launching/hauling boats, keeping docks neat and organized, and cleaning boat ramp as needed. Maintains lookout for trespassing non-members on docks and grounds, asking to leave in a polite manner when necessary. Inspects jet dock slips, lines, etc., daily; ensures hoses have nozzles and are neatly coiled daily. Maintains Club grounds as needed or directed by Dock Master or Grounds Foreman Maintains the cleanliness of the entire harbor area including: Rubbish pick-up from containers as needed or scheduled by the dock master; Daily removal of reeds and other debris from boat ramp General policing of harbor areas. Raises American flag and club burgee at required times. Assists with sailing program as necessary. Reports any feedback of members or guests to dock master; or misconduct of crew members taking place in the harbor areas or club grounds. Uses club equipment (harbor carts, harbor slugs, hand carts, etc.) as needed. Maintains radio watch on VHF channels during Regattas, when expecting boat arrivals, and while sailing programs are in operation Attends Docks and Grounds staff meetings. Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the dock master. Physical Demands and Work Environment Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment, which is typical of this position. Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling. Push, pull or lift 50 pounds.
