Full Job Description Summary:

The primary function of the Material Handler is to receive, store, and issue materials, equipment, and other items from the stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. This role supports plant operations by maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring materials are stored and moved efficiently and safely in alignment with Chevron’s operational and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Receive and count stock items; record inventory data manually or using a computer system. Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards. Verify inventory accuracy by comparing system data with physical stock counts; investigate and resolve discrepancies. Store items in an orderly and accessible manner based on turnover, environmental conditions, and facility capabilities. Label stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment. Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to comply with safety and operational standards. Keep detailed records of stock usage, damage, and equipment handling. Examine and inspect stock items for wear or damage; report issues to supervisors. Provide guidance and support to fellow warehouse or stockroom workers as needed. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently. Support production operations by staging materials and ensuring timely material flow.

Required Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Team-oriented with a proactive and dependable work ethic. Familiarity with inventory control procedures and warehouse operations. Understanding of equipment, procedures, and safety strategies relevant to protecting people, property, and inventory. Proficient with handheld scanners, inventory software, and basic computer systems.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or GED required . 5-7 years of warehouse, inventory, or material handling experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment required . Forklift certification preferred (must be willing and able to obtain certification if not already held). Experience in a lubricants or chemical plant environment is a plus .

$20.00 – $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week
