Description
Under administrative direction, the purpose of this position is to provide operational support at the city waste transfer station facility. The Waste Transfer Station Attendant ensures daily operations are done efficiently and timely. Employees in this job classification support all city-led and/or sponsored solid waste programs and initiatives and ensure compliance with established rules and regulations.
Days/Hours•Wednesdays 4:00 PM to 7:00

PM, Fridays:

1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Saturdays 7:30 AM•5:30 PM, Sundays 11:30 AM•5:30 PM and quarterly on Fridays from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Examples of Duties
Opens and closes waste transfer station gates according to schedule.
Directs incoming vehicles to proper disposal areas.
Explains waste transfer station rules and procedures to the public.
Maintains waste transfer station in accordance with rules and regulations. Interacts with customers, confirms city residency and monitors material to prohibit disposal of not permitted items.
Collects organic waste from several city facilities and takes it to a designated facility. Locks and secures the waste transfer station facility and guard house at the end of each scheduled workday.
Supports other solid waste programs run or supported by the city.
Typical Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Demonstrated ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the work, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Previous experience in similar facilities preferred.
Valid Florida Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
